filtering wall layers for separate colouring

We are regularly required to color code our wall layers for permit documents. Does anyone know of a clever method to do so. It is impossible to filter materials, although it seems that you can filter walls by keynote, and materials are keynoted.  Using parts is out of the question as it is a tedious and cumbersome method.

Any thoughts?!

Thanks

Eyal

Don't know why parts won't work. It is pretty effective the work you want to do.

Afterward you can modify your wall to have comments to highlight certain assembly as different color.

Also parts allow you to use material to highlight which item will be your fire rated material. So if you want to do code analysis, I would use these approach.
