Filled region with pattern showing as white solid when view is set to Realistic

Filled region with pattern showing as white solid when view is set to Realistic mode.

this thread mentions that it has been sorted but we are running 2018.3.1 and the bug persists.

I don't believe it ever gets sorted.  In fact, I don't believe it is a bug, but a logical result.  Realistic visual style shows appearance materials, not surface patterns, and that includes filled region patterns.

@ToanDN, I understand that approach, but in that case why is it allowing the placement of filled regions, to begin with. why not hiding them all when set to realistic. Or displaying a message akin to when we enable shadows, for instance, and get informed that we will need to be using Raster Printing?

I had this pop up today in Revit 2020.  I'm not sure if I've ever encountered it before.  It appears that it's not universal, however.  Some filled regions show, and others don't.--solid colors worked, but patterns did not.  It would make sense if they just don't show up at all in realistic view, and as you mentioned, some sort of accompanying warning or explanation would be ideal.  But it seems it's inconsistent in how it treats different filled regions depending on what the fill is.  May not be much help if you're trying to match a material, but at least it's something.
