Filled Region family type

How to create a family file for Filled Region?

I would like to have custom family file for Filled Region (with predefined Color, Pattern and also with !custom parameters (see attachment)), that I can load into my model and assign family type from that file to my custom Filled Region.

I have searched and found that I need to create family with Detail item template, but don't know what should I do then?

So my steps should be: create family file for filled region -> load it into model -> select filled region and have opportunity to change family type to the one from family file.

The question is: How to create such file (template?) and what steps should I do inside it?

Will appreciate your help.

Any particular reason you want to create different fill region family type? I never find it useful unless I am create detail and embedded those fill region or I have to create model family and need fill region to indicate cut or clearance. The only family I would create is masking region to hide particular area using generic annotation.

In fact I need this for my add-in - User draws filled regions, I catch them and set specified family type with custom parameters (!see attachment screenshot!, that is done somehow in that model file). Then I can filter such regions by family type in my Dynamo Revit script and read custom parameters.

But for now I would like to do this at least manually -> create family for filled region with dynamic shape. Sounds like trivial task, but probably I misunderstood Revit principals and it's not possible.

Yes, it seems that parameters were added via Manage -> Project Parameters and Types were duplicated from System Family: Filled Region.
