Filled Region does not push thru to link

I have an architectural model with a 2x4 Ceiling grid with a model pattern applied, looks and works just fine in the Arch model. This Arch model gets linked into a Mechanical model, and now the pattern is not matching the Arch, we have tried the following:

  • Remove filters
  • Removed and re-linked
  • Set up specific views in Arch and point Mech at that specific view via VG
  • moved linked model and put back in place

I have no idea why this happens, there is no good explanation, can any one help.

thanks

VG > Revit Links tab > Display Settings = by Linked View: choose the intended view from the list.

Wait a minute, you are talking about a material surface pattern, not a filled region.  Try Transfer Project Standards > Materials from the Arch model to yours.

The exact same material must be in both models--thus Transfer Project Standards>Materials.

What happened when you transfer the materials over?  Any warnings?

there was, and i chose to overwrite it. that did not work, so i also deleted the material in question out of mech model, and re-transferred it back in with no success. this is definitely goofy

How was the model linked? Did you acquire coordinates?

it is one of several buildings on a master campus, where they are all by shared coordinates. I thought about that as well, as i have seen patterns move based upon different locations, even in the same model. but not in years.

I'm not sure if this is related but I've seen similar posts that end up being the "look up" / "look down" setting. The grids were different depending on the view orientation.

Enough guessing. Post a portion of the model that exhibits the behavior.

Sadly, due to NDA, and IP nature of the client, I am forbidden to post pics, or even the native file for review. I do apologize, and i would really like to keep working for they who must not be named.

Let me see if i cannot duplicate this in a non IP environment that i can share.

We only need a ceiling that exhibits the behavior and the naked file that it is linked to. Shouldn't be very difficult to strip out any proprietary data. Just saying that this sounds like something that could be solved with an example, not the contractually blocked stuff.
