Filled or Masking Region to Family

Hello,

Im not entirely sure if this is possible. I like to show if there is a bulkhead above with a filled region. the model a wall and ceiling so when i do an internal view it is displayed.

Im thinking there has be to an easier way! i have since had a bulkhead family... Is it possible since this family will sit above the cut like that i can attach something similar to a symbolic like but maybe it be a filled region instead the represents where the bulkhead is above?

when these bulkheads are displayed  on a number of views it just isnt a good practice. (floorplan, electrical internal callout) when i update one filled region it wont update on all. i have since been creating a group for the filled regions so when i update it it updates on ALL sheets. if anyone has any suggestions on a better way to do this i am open to ideas.

They way we delineate bulkheads/soffits in Plan Views is by using fill regions (crosshatch) or just by using a dashed line. Been doing that way for 25 years. I can't think of an easier, faster or cleaner way to do it.  Maybe I'm misunderstanding you.

half half. so if i create a bulkhead family. i could create a symbolic line that is dashed and it would then show on the floor plan, replacing the need for a detail line. is it possible to have a hatch attached to a family so say if i changed the bulkhead from 350D too 650D the filled region would automatically update.

the issue is i am trying to eliminate chance of error across my sheets i might update the filled region on the floor plan but on the electrical plan it wont update

Well, if you want to nest it into a family (or load it directly into the project), then create it using the Detail Item Family Template.

...sorry mate. I know you just got pinged with several revisions of this post.

Okie Dokie Mate.  Hope it helps. Funny, I remembered when building this family, that we have used this approach on occasions. I totally get where you are coming from now.

Cheers!

Morning Barth.

Been having a play with the family you supplied. I have since recreated one of my own with the fill as well as a bulkhead component above. thought id share with you. Might come in handy or be able to better it.

Hello,

I have a question about filled region.

Inside family editor the filled region (and mask region) overlapped the lines under it (I put the filled region on a higher reference plane). But when I load family to project, that filled region didnt work. Can anyone help me? Thanks!
