Fill Pattern Line Weight

Hello,

I have read multiple posts regarding fill pattern line weights, but I cannot seem to find a definite answer. I know that Revit uses line weight "1" by default for fill patterns. Is there a way to modify the line weight of a specific fill pattern associated with a material? I know this is possible with "filled region", but going around using "filled region" on every wall of a different material defeats the purpose of Revit. For example, on my front elevation, I have a brick wall and wood siding wall connecting with one another. I want the brick fill pattern to have a different line weight than the wood siding. How would I go about this? Thanks for your help!

Sounds like you want to a model surface pattern for brick that has double lines delineating the grout in-between the bricks .  With Thin Lines turned OFF, those double #1 lines would almost look like one line, depending on the View Scale.

Thanks for pasting the link to that post. Yes, I will reach out to the author. In the meantime, do you know of any way to achieve the desired effect? Also, seeing as you are basically a god on this forum, I would love to know how you approach this in your projects, and specifically your elevations. Is this something that you have a workaround for? Or are all of your fill pattern line weights the same, and it's just something you live with? Thanks for all of your help!

Yes, you are correct, that is the issue I am facing. Some of my pattern fills include lines that are very close to one another. These patterns need to have a lighter line weight to appear properly. Any idea how to achieve this? Thanks for your time!

Lighter? That has nothing to do with Pen Weight.  But, Line Weights can be changed via Additional Settings=>Line Weights.  In this case, you want to change Pen #1.  But you probably already know this; don't you?

Maybe don't use patterns that have lines too close to one another?  Or make lineweight 1 very thin so it works on any patterns?  You can also submit the idea to Revit Ideas board.

@barthbradley Sorry, I mean "thinner" not "lighter" line weight, I've heard it referred to this way before. Yes, I am aware that you can change pen #1. However, the problem that I am running into is that I want some fills to contain thicker line weights, and some to contain thinner line weights. I will create a "wish for this item. Thank you!

The only way to do that at present is

• Applying View Filters
  1. Instead of applying pattern to the Material, set it to none
  2. Add a Filter that uses Type Name
  3. Apply Surface Pattern override 
  4. Pattern in the view will follow Object Style Projection Lines Line Weight

• Phase Filters/Phase overrides.... (not sure how convenient that is creating a phase just for pattern graphics overrides)
