FBX to RFA

I am trying to get an FBX file into a Revit Family, and I'm getting hung up when importing. I successfully exported the file from 3DS Max to a 3D DWG so I could import it to Revit, but it seems the file may be too large as is gets hung up trying to import the DWG into the Revit Family. Is there a trick to reducing the information in a 3D DWG prior to trying to import it to an RFA? Thank you for your help!

try this:

  1. open .fbx file in Formit  , then save the model as .axm ( Formit native)
  2. while in Revit Family > Insert > choose the .axm file from step 1

That worked, thank you! However, now I'm faced with a different issue. When I import in plan view, it is visible in all the plan views but I can't see it in the elevations or 3D view. When I import in the 3D view, it is visible in all the elevation views and 3D view, but I can't see it in the plan views. Any idea what might be happening?

have a look in Family Element Visibility Settings ,,,Maybe you have a Detail Item override for the Plan View.

Check Plan/RCP button
