Fascia won't connect when flipped

I get that I have to do the fascia all in one shot. that is not the trouble. The trouble is

I am not able to get the fascia to connect when the orientation is flipped so that the exterior most face aligns with the edge of the roof I am assigning the fascia to. Am I crazy or is this not possible?

I have tried redrafting the profile to be on the other side of the origin it doesn't fix it unfortunately. here is a cross section of what I am trying to do. As you can see the roof sheathing needs to extend to the front face of the fascia this is how things are typically built in my experience and unfortunately how I am being told to build it now.

Okay, so I get that. That's pretty common.  What I don't get is the corner return you are trying to achieve on the gable side into the rake.  As I understand it, the problem is you can't get the fascia's to connect like this:

Is this the issue?  Or no?

This screenshot is from your Project.  I'm having no issues. Are you selecting the  edges called out in screenshot #2?
