Fascia miter and offsets won't project mirror correctly!

Firstly:

So there are a few things happening. I placed a horizontal miter on my gable fascias in order for them to rest on the roof brows. After I mirror the entire project using the east-west axis, my horizontal miter no longer exist and now dives into the roof brow below.

Secondly:

If I for need to place an offset onto the fascias with the horizontal miter before mirroring (reference screenshot with 2'-5" offset) and then mirror the entire project using the east-west axis, my horizontal miter AND 2'-5" offset mirrors to the top of the fascia instead of being at the bottom.

Any help with this would be HUGE!!! Might even have a job for you! lol

If you plan to mirror the project, or link it in a new file and mirror the link instance, then don't place the fascias directly by picking the roof edges, draw model lines along the roof edges and place the fascias by picking the model lines.

Try mirror this example file and see.

Would you then have to place model lines onto all of the roof eaves & rakes?

What's the best practice for placing model lines on roof profiles?

If the intent is to mirror the project with all the fascias intact then yes you would have to add those model lines. The easiest way is the roof edge vertical face as the workplane, then use pick line an dpick the sloped planes to draw the model lines.

Normal fascia using a off center profile will still be flipped inside out after mirror, but flip them back is easy with the flipping arrow when you select the fascia. Offset and miter condition won't be affected.

In the example I posted, I modified the fascia profile to on center, and draw the model lines offset the edges of the roof a half the with of the fascia so that there is no need to flip them inside out. But it only works for simple rectangle profiles, not any decorative or layered types.

It turns out that this actually isn't working for me. I actually need something that will work on gable roofs and corners. Any other ideas?

No. Just create fascia after mirroring then.

I have this issue all the time.  When a project is mirrored, all fascias  / wall sweeps forget how their ends are mitered and often un-corner if they were connect to another piece.  The model line method isn't always possible...

If your roof is symmetrical then I would lock the roof, facias, and soffits in place and then mirror everything else. I lucked out because my roof was perfectly symmetrical even though my building wasn't because I had the roof covering a porch. Because my roof was larger than the building and it was perfectly symmetrical, I mirrored everything except the roofs, facias, and soffits and it ended up working out.

Has anyone found a solution when the gable fascia is not symmetrical?
