I have created a family for marking horizontal sections in our plans (blue rectangule). You can easily extend it because is an inteligent family.
What I need now is to add a reference (red text) so when click on, REvit open the plan. Also I would like to be able to move the reference to the plan freely on the plan so finally could be placed on the left or right side of the rectangule. Ideally I would also love to turn it so It can be horizontal or vertical aligned.
Any clue for doing this?
What exactly are you trying to do that the section tool does not do for you?

Same thing that when someone create a new filling.
Well, that did not help to make your question clearer.
Hi,
Are you trying to create a reference view?

Yes, a personalized one.
I have just made a rectangular reference (blue dash line rectangule) view that I can extend according needs. Now I would like to insert in that family a symbol (red x) that refers to a view plan. I also would like that that symbol could be placed in any of the 4 corners of the rectangular reference.
MY problem is that when I try to insert the symbol in the family, it says that only can be placed in a detail family or in a general annotation family. In my case the blue dash line rectangule is already a detail family, so I do not understang why I can not place a symbol.
Is that not what a callout already does? You could make a rectangular callout, and then move the reference to any corner of the rectangular callout.
I think if you place a callout you always create a new section. I am looking for marks that refers to the same detail and I can place several in several plans. But unfortunately I can not find the way of placind the xxxx reference inside the family were I have created the rectangular mark.
If you don't want to use Callouts, it's going to be a two-step process. One Detail Family for the rectangle and one for the View Reference.
You can create a rectangle in the View Reference, but it won't flex with an Instance parameter - you have to create multiple types.
Thank you, thats what I need to know so I cant spend my time anymore in something impossible. Then I already have in my project some reference with a square. Now I would like then to change the location of the reference number.
But when I try to it, save with a new number and upload the family into the project it doesnt work. When I try to place the new reference it is not storage in the reference location.
Any help?
What would be the difference between that and a callout? You could customize the callout head to be just the reference, without circles or lines. And that reference could be moved easily to any place around the rectangle.
