Hi guys,
I am having some issue with family visibility.
In short, I edited a rooftop air conditioner with model lines below it, so that the (symbolic) supply/return penetrations would be visible in the RCP.
It was working fine yesterday, but then today, when I opened the model, the RCP is now showing the plan view for the entire AC unit, and not just the model lines. I can't seem to fix it.
Tried changing the VR, and tried moving the model lines up higher closer to the bottom of the unit itself (just in case I was accidentally cutting the model in the view.
Any advice?
I'm attaching the family.
Thank you!
PS in RCP VR is 7'-6" below or above the level? (ie, is increasing the height going lower to the ground or higher to the sky? - in other words, if the view starts as standing looking at the ceiling, and now i want to lay down, am I going from "Ceiling Level" 6' to 1' or "Ceiling level" -2' to -7'??
-See if the lines have a Visibility Setting-- Display in 3D Views and:
Plan/RCP
Front/Back
Left/Right
Here is a good explanation of View Range: https://revitpure.com/blog/how-to-use-view-range-in-revit
Are you talking about the Model Lines (Subcategory=Fan)? They are set to be visible only in Fine Detail Level.
Thanks Chris.
Two things. The plan/RCP settings need to remain visible for both the model itself and the penetration lines, as I need the model visible in my roof plan, and the penetration lines visible in the RCP. and the family templates don't seem to allow for a RCP only symbolic line. So it is either both or none - unfortunately. Which is why I created the penetration lines so far below the model itself, as it is the part I want to see in the RCP.
As far as the VR, I appreciate the link - but I haven't yet seen any tutorial telling me which way the offsets go - same as plan VR, or inverse.
Yes, Bearth.
those models. I tried various subcategories to see if I could control visibility that way.
But yes, I do all my views in fine anyways. The issue is that I see too much. See attached image.
Playing around, I was able to get it in another plan view the way it should be, but I can't seem to figure out what caused it. So that I can do this properly.
The limitations your speaking of regarding Symbolic Linework can be be overcome by hosting the linework to a Work Plane. This can done by deselecting Draw in Foreground. This should yield the results you are looking for (e.g. visible in RCP; not visible in Plan).
...this AKN article touches on what I'm describing:
So the intake/ exhaust lines need to be under the bottom of the roof, and the unit is above the top of the roof.
Is the roofs category or the roof itself is set to transparent by accident?
