Family Types from Nested family

I'm not sure how to express this situation but, I'm building a object that has a nested object within.

And I would like to make an .txt file that has this information about this parametric info. Is that possible?

I was thinking like "Optic Type##Family Type##Lighting Fixture

I would be glad if anyone knows how to made it.

HERE you can find information about creating a type catalog, including the family type parameter

In short, in the header it should be param_name##OTHER##

In your case: Optic Type##OTHER##

For your types it should be:  "Head Tilt : Flood 43"""

In your case you have to be a bit careful because you make use of double quotes in your family types. Because in CSV files double quotes are often used as qualifiers you probably require the sequence as above with the triple ".

This is one of the reasons I avoid making use of these special characters and just use in or inch instead.

I've think I have tried with almost every combination that I've read about. But I guess I'm doing something wrong. Event with two or triple ", as you typed. Can you see what I'm doing wrong? Or should I upload the files I'm working on?

Easiest is if you upload the family and the type catalog you have sofar. Then I can have a look.

As mentioned, this is one of the reasons I try to avoid those special characters (e.g * - + ? / [ ] ) in names.

Quite often it will trip you up somewhere down the line and you can spend quite some time to correct it or find the cause.

Maybe I've done something terrible wrong with this object and type catalog. You will see :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

For me it seems to work (Revit 2018).

The only thing I have changed is the filename of the type catalog from "Touch Mini Gimbal.csv" to "Touch Mini Gimbal.txt"

Type catalogs need to have same filename as the family and have .txt as extension.

In Family editor, it don't work if your in Revit 2015 or 2018. But if you are in a project and load it, then it work. Why? That's realy annoying.

It works the same between Family editor and project environment.  You just need to load the family with the accompanied family type TXT file via Insert > Load Family.

That is general knowledge, and not an answer why my object doesn't work. It works fine in project not in Family editor.

General knowledge works here, in the Family editor.  Go figure.
