I am creating an LED strip light.
I require different colour options per type.
I have created a family with a light source, that has 2 types, a red and a white light.
I have nested the light family into my host strip light family and arrayed the light with a formula so that the longer the strip, the more number of lights.
I have then created a white and red light type for the strip light.
The red strip has the red light and the white strip has the white, as per the family type parameter.
Once the host family has been loading into a project, switching between the 2 types indicates that the family is reading correctly, but in a render the light remains what i last had in the nested family when inserting into the host family. Either red or white. It does not reflect what the family type is within the project.
Can anyone give me any ideas on how to resolve this issue, if it is possible?!
As I will be needing many more colour options, the visibility parameter yes/no, is not a route that i should have to go down. Especially as I will be needing many more colours eventually and the family type parameter, I feel, should do the task I require
The Materials need to use a different APPEARANCE ASSETS.
@barthbradley it's the actual light source that i need to change colour. The light family with the light source has 2 types, one red and one white. I have created the glowing look of the light by including an 'LED' extrusion with a material asset on it.
I know that both lights work correctly in projecting the correct coloured light, but it seems to be the Family Type parameter that I am not getting to function correctly when it is in the project.
Are you do this by way of the "Color Filter" Type Parameter?
If so, verify that the Family TYPE has the correct color assigned to it.
@barthbradley @norbert_szlezak I was right to think that how i had set up the families would make the family work, however, I have discovered I forgot one vital factor for the change in light colour type.......I forgot to give the light family itself the parameter (facepalm). After that, it worked like a charm..........until i then discovered that array and the family type parameter do not get on with each other, so I am now looking into how I can best achieve that!
Thanks for your suggestions in trying to help though
You haven't explained how you are coloring the Light Sources. I have asked above if you are doing this through the Color Filter, but you didn't respond. If I knew how you were coloring them I could help.
@barthbradley I have coloured the light sources and they are a types within the light family. I have light working correctly now, but the light family type does not function well in a family as an array. By all accounts, this is a common issue.
