Family Type Nested Multiple Families

Hello,

I am trying to get my family types, essentially the length parameter, to show up across 3 nested families.  My first family is the extrusion and length parameter via ref. line.  It is made up of a few different pieces which is why i used a ref. line.  The second family is to add a rotational parameter, this still has the family types of different lengths.  The third family is what will be put into a project and I would like to change the length / family type in the third family.  I have tried shared parameters but cannot see the desired result. Please see images below.

Are we talking Instance Parameters? And, are you Associating Nested Family Parameters to Host Parameters?

Post the Families.

I just looked at your screenshots and it looks to me  like you are nesting Family TYPES.  If that's right, you should label the nested Family to a "Family Type" Parameter in the Host.   Are you familiar with these kinds of Families and how they operate?

See "Creating the Family Type"  section at this link:

Actually I have figured out a good way to fix my issue, thank you, however, I have another problem.  These families will be in a ceiling plane, and when I load the family into a project, I get a variant offset from the ceiling plane. I am not sure what could be causing the issue.  Please see attached.

Post the family or families.

I changed an older file and re-loaded it into the family, then into the project, seemed to do the trick.  Thanks!
