Family shows up 4x on schedule (there are 4 materials assign to it in nested families).

Hi guys,

I've been trying to do this material takeoff and learn more about shared parameters and I have some doubts.

One of my families is a structural column with plates and screws nested on it. All those families have a different material assigned to it (4 different materials in total).

So, when I create the schedule, all my columns show up 4 times on it and I want them to show only once per each column on my model, for obvious reasons.

Any tips?

This is only one structural column:

Thanks!

Do the sorting by category and material, uncheck this box:

Sounds like you have shared families nested into your structural column family. If so, you would use Filters to add or remove families from the schedule.

Post your file here and can show you.

A material take-off schedule reports materials.  So if you have 4 materials then it will show 4 different rows, which is what you are showing.  If you want to show one row with all 4 materials then it is not possible without manually input the information or using Dynamo.

Thanks guys.

I think the best solution for my issue was creating "New schedule/quantities" rather than "New material takeoff".

My goal is to create a schedule for all items in our farm sheds (poles, screws, bolts, purlins and so on) and I realized that the best way to do so is by creating custom shared parameters to all items.

Another question guys: is it possible to group different schedules in the same page? For now I have this schedules (pic. 1) and I would like to do this (pic. 2) or if you have a different suggestion, would be welcome.

(...and so on.)
