Hello people who are smarter than me ![]()
I wish I had a Louver family that would allow a diagonal cut off to fit within the front wall of this cafe design.
I haven't figured out how to build this yet - so I've tried to stretch a BIMobject family to fit. But this keeps breaking. it won't stretch over 4000mm and the frame sweep loses connection to the louvers and the void. (I can't even understand how this family was initially built).
Surely people have come across needing a louver that has a flexible frame?
Can I ask for some tips on getting this parameter to stretch to 5400x2000? even if I have to have a giant triangle instead of the irregular pentagon shape that I'm really after....
any help appreciated ![]()

Just like that with a sweep profile on the perimeter.
How do you a add a partial length/height instance for the diagonal cut back?
and did you lock a void to the diagonal ref?

that what I would do. The vent as an embedded curtain wall. The OP has the mullion profile in the nested family of the parent family he posted. He can use the OOTB rectangular mullions for the borders/frame.
...or he could just open the nested family, custom shape and size the existing cut void and load that one into his project directly. Forget about making it parametric and forget about the parent family. That's all I did. If there's only one instance of it in the project, why bother with all the other work. Simplify and move on.
...or just use a model hatch pattern with spaced horizontal lines and be done with it in seconds.
cheers ToanDN. I saw this was a possibility , but felt like I was already making the solution bigger than the problem. Having just finished up brutalising the original file, I'll do a curtain wall next time.
the model has a bird screen, sill, wall opening and sweeps that are all interrelated and locked/restricted in some way. getting it to appear as a modeled louver that cuts in section etc hasn't been as easy as simply cutting the louver family.
