Family - Nested array not responding when placed in model

I have created a line-based generic model for a wainscotting wall finish. The paneling (vertical slats) are spaced by a distance parameter called "Spacing". There is also a yes/no parameter that changes the behavior of "Spacing" to either be a fixed amount, or evenly spaced across the length of the family. In the family editor, the math and logic seems to be working fine, and it is providing the spacing desired.

However, the family does not update "Spacing" when placed in the model. The value is updating in the Properties window, but the geometry does not follow.

I've tried simplifying the model by removing the even spacing yes/no toggle, but the geometry will still not change spacing.

Any ideas what might be happening and how to create an evenly spaced panel? Thanks!

@armanhosseini

  1. Use a reference plane to define the Spacing Parameter
  2. Then align and lock the Second instance of the array to that reference plane
    • Make it a habit: Instead of directly constraining components using a parametric dim/label...Use a reference plane, constrain it with a Parameter then align and lock the component to that reference plane

OPTIONAL: Just incase, I have noticed that the hight of the transoms/mullions is not associated to the height of the Panel...You might want to do that too

Thank you! I am always preaching about dimensioning to reference planes... I'm kicking myself for missing that! Thanks for pointing out the height as well - fixed and set!
