Hello,
I'm not sure how this works. I have a family that I created a Family Instance parameter of type image. The family is the Generic Annotation. I have additional Generic Annotation families that I have created for various symbols. However, my other symbols, I cannot do this. The Image type does not appear in the drop down. I have attached two families. The first family LAKE, has the instance image parameter. The other, CREEK does not. I am using Revit 2020.
Please let me know what the difference is.
Thank you,
Carol

Only difference I see, is that the Parameters are Type Parameters in one, and an Instance Parameters in the other.
Haha, yes, I know that. I'm asking how that can be. I don't know what I did to create the LAKE family so that I could have an instance image parameter. Now, anytime I try to modify one of my other symbol families or create a new one based on the Generic Annotation template, I cannot create an instance parameter of type image.
I'm currently just doing a SAVE AS on the LAKE family and then editing it.

You created the Instance Image parameter from a schedule in the project. When you edit the family and save, that instance parameter comes with it.
Hi! Sorry to bother you 2 years later but I've read your explanation 50 times and still didn't understand what you've meant. I've tried placing a schedule with an image parameter in the family but it didn't work. Can you please describe in more detail. Thank you.
Hi Gabi,
I'm sorry I don't really remember. When I read the solution, it sounds like the family was created, loaded into the project. Then a schedule was created for that family and a instance parameter added there to hold the image. I haven't looked at that project for quite some time.

Carol
The Schedule is created in the Project. The Image doesn't appear until you place the Schedule on a Sheet.
I've just used the original family from the beginning of the discussion (LAKE family) for a shortcut and i don't think i'm on the right path for solving my problem.
My main task is use a text parameter for the sheets, that contains specific URLs for every drawing/sheet on an online folder and then use QRimage package from Dynamo to populate an image parameter for the sheets. After that i thought i could use a general annotation with an image instance parameter. But i don't think this is the right direction because i cannot display the image instance parameter in the general annotation.
Any other solutions you recommend?
Thank you.
