Hello guys,
I need to make a shaft family in project. In ground floor I have ceiling breakthrough (German DD), from first to third floor I have case of floor breakthrough and ceiling breakthrough (German FD+DD) and at the and at third floor I have floor breakthrough (German BD).
The problem with this family is that it can be visible at the ground floor, first and third but at second floor it is invisible.
It is invisible because the family is made with model host families. For now I use plan region at second floor to see the family but this is not the solution.
How to set this family that I can see it at the second floor?
Thanks in advance and happy new year! ![]()

Hi
In the family, the level differences are mentioned " 1300mm " ( 1.3 m )
and the project you have, there the level to level distance is 4000mm ( 4m )
correct the levels in family and that should fix the problem..
Option 2
Use inplace familiy, or just shaft to create it within the project..
Cheers
Hello Ganesh,
Thanks for your reply.
I don't understand the first option that you mention. Can you explain to me on which level differences in the family you mean?
For the second option I am aware of this but in my case by the German standards it's different case and more complex.
Thanks ![]()
Hello
If you edit the family, you can see " 1333mm" level to level distance..
you have to correct this dimension ( distance ) matching with your project levels which is " 4000mm"
Get help from someone who created that family or just edit it yourself .
Cheers..
Hello Toan,
I want to see this family exactly as at first floor( black solid simbol - FD+DD) and I want to tag the same as the first floor (FD+DD).
Thanks ![]()
Hello Ganesh and Toan,
Thanks for your replies.
Now I can see what you talking about. This was my second option for this family that I had put inside this .rvt file.I made a mistake.
This family has a array option between the levels but this is really to difficult to control and to set in one project.
Sorry I uploaded the wrong family. In attachment you can see the right one (without the array option).
Thank you guys
You need to modify the shaft family to place the nested opening family as an array that indicates the number of levels you need. This method only works if all the level heights are identical. See attached.
A more rudimentary but simpler method is set the shaft to span one level and array/copy it vertically to the others. This method works for different level heights.

I tried telling him that in the other thread.
We got the single opening working the way he wanted before. Just copy it all over the project wherever you want it. Then every plan view will display it properly. Each one will be a hole that can be scheduled. The benefits are significant if you ask me.
This whole idea to make a single array family to handle multiple floor configurations is way less desirable.
Thank you Toan for your reply...
In my case it is the best option that I go with the one family with the array option inside. It is easier for my project and by german standard.
I set the array option that goes equally from 2th to 4th and then for the distances from 1th to 2nd and 4th to 5th I used parameter.
I thought that there is option without the array but in my case it's not possible.
Thank you and Chris for your replies..:)
