Family File Name vs Family Type Name

I created a window family from an old family, named it, and loaded it into a project. When I went looking for the family in the Project, the family I was looking for was listed under the old Type name. I am confused on the relationship of family TYPE names to family FILE names. Is there an article of video anyone is aware of that might help clear this up for me? Thank you!

There is no relationship.

....try this workflow:

In Project, go to File=>Open=>Family. Browse to and open the "old" window family. Modify the family then go to File=>Save As, type in a different file name and press OK to save.  Return to Project, go to Insert=>Load Family and browse to and select the revised, newly named Window family.  Press OK to load.

A family can have several Types with different names. You need to rename the Types in the new family as well. If you already loaded it in project, you can rename the types directly in the project.
