Family Creation Help

All,

Is it possible to add a parameter to a family so that it can control a quantity of brackets?

For example:

In family types 'other' can i add a parameter "Number of Brackets" and use the 'value tab' to control the amount of brackets in a family?

I am creating a standard profile for a Mullion and bracket support system and it would be ideal if i could control the length, bracket offset and bracket quantity from the parameters.

As the lengths of the mullion change numerous times across different jobs, this means that the bracket offsets/centers also change to suit the required mullion spans and therefore resulting in more/less brackets.

I don't particularly want to detail a new mullion for every scenario and therefore if you could help with this query i will be very happy!!!

regards,

Luke

I have started to use an array linear tool. I will update my progress shortly.

If you could post tips on using the array linear tool that would be helpful. Thank you

Yes, use an Array that is Appended to End (e.g. pick "2nd" not "Last").

TIP: Align and Lock the "2nd" Array Component to a Ref. Plane. Pull a Dimension between that Ref. Plane and the Origin Ref. Plane and Label it with a "Spacing" Parameter.

Barth,

i was able to add a parameter to the length and input a formula to determine the bracket offset, spacing and quantity which was driven by the array.

everything works great for this family.

is it possible to constrain  bracket to prevent it 'duplicating' passed half way?

Half-way point of what? The length of the Array?  But, sure it is possible. Probably can be done with a formula-drive control parameter. Can to post a picture or the family so I can see what we're working with?
