I have been working through the online tutorial for creating a Roof truss, which has been going well. The problem is i put it a generic roof template( i thought this made sense?) but the problem is my Truss family model now has a random ceiling floating in the model space(see below tiny dots apart). It wont let me hide in view any ideas thanks?

Edit the family.
yeah no hide in view comming up and i unpin it but it wont let me delete
That's because the ceiling has been put there by the system - you are stuck with it.
Do this - edit the family, select the ceiling, and at the bottom of the screen click on the 'sunglasses' This will allow you to hide the ceiling. Save the family and reload into your model.
ok thanks i now have a further problem as it was created in a roof template it wants a roof for it to be placed in, i just want to be able to place it on walls any further ideas thanks?
You could try to convert this roof-based family into a face-based family.
Load the family into a Project - let's call it 1
Open a new blank Project - let's call it 2
Link 1 into 2
Click on Copy/Monitor. Ask Copy/Monitor to copy the truss - you will see a squiggly mark when that happens.
Click Stop Monitoring.
Remove linked file 1. You will be left with the copy of the truss.
Copy/Monitor changes families to face-based families.
You can then Saveas the truss as a new .rfa.
Hope that this works.
Actually the family is full of errors when you try to adjust parameter.. annoying spent most of the day on this..
