Hi
I have made a family and assigned a material parameter to some elements of it.
The problem is that the colour only shows in the realistic view in both the family editor and when inserted in the model, otherwise it is just dark grey.
Can anyone explain how to have it show coloured in shaded view?
Thanks

I think I have. Under the Graphics tab in the Material Browser the Shading color is set.
The material was not showing colored in the Project Materials panel so I loaded an Appearance from the Asset Browser and that showed a colored icon but made no difference to the display of the family.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks
I look at your material. Seems like you have two of the same material but the paint has 120-120-120. This means when it is shaded, it will show that color. If you want to fix it quickly, you can either set that material to your existing parameter call material or change the Paint material to use rendered appearance. The canopy is using Paint material. The material shading color under Graphics tab is is gray so the canopy is gray in Shade visual style. If you mean to use Paint red material then assign the material of the canopy to Paint red, or change the shading color of the Paint material to red.
Thanks Symon2000.
I need more time to really investigate this but you seem to have identified what needs fixing.
