Face based electrical fixtures - How to?

I have created some wall hosted electrical fixtures.  The client would like me to change them to face based, so that if wall, or face, is deleted then the family will stay.  Is there a way to do this?  I would want symbolic or model lines to show up in elevation and then a symbol in plan.  I will also create floor receptacles that will be hosted to the face of the floor.  I created a face based rectangle to act as the physical receptacle, showing up on the face, but am a little lost where to place the symbol to have it show up in plan.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks.

Regards Peter.

Sounds like you are asking how to convert a wall-hosted family to a face-based family?  If so, there's a lot of tutorials available on line to guide you. Here's one:

iRevit: Converting Wall-based casework to Face-based in Revit

...you can even delete the host entirely from the family if you want.

@Pshupe

  1. Link the fixture to a clean new file and place on a wall
  2. Save and close
  3. Open your model and linf the revit model from step 1
  4. Copy monitor the fixture (this will be a face based)
  5. Stop monitpring >> remove link and save the new fixture
