Extracting material takeoff from .SAT file in Revit

Hello,

I would like to extract a material takeoff from a 3D model with volumes and respective material types. The available file for the 3D model is in.SAT file.

I imported the file to Revit in a family type file. However I'm not able to create any schedule nor material takeoff. The model seems to be as one block. I'm not very familiar with Revit. Is there such possibility to extract a bill of quantities with .SAT file in Revit or should i import it into another software?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for the post.

There is a way to assign materials (properties) to objects from an imported SAT file in Revit and make a schedule of it. See the three links below.

But I don't think this is what you need, since you want to extract existing (already added) information? If you can send me the .SAT file I could have a look at it.

Hi Jreij,

Thank you for your reply and links. Yes, basically I would like to extract already existing information from the model. For instance, how much m3 of wood, concrete were used, etc.

The file was created on CADworks by the fabricator and then exported as .sat file but unfortunately we don't have the license to use this software.

Unfortunately I'm not able to share the file at the moment for confidential reasons.

I understand it is difficult to figure out what the problem is just by messages.

Could the problem come from the import properties? Should I import the file in a project file or in a family file? Is there any special setting to do? It also asks the category type when importing and this seems to impact later on when creating the schedule.

Thank you again!
