Hi all,

We have to prepare an extension of an existing building.

I want to model the existing in order to coordinate easly the connection between both. Probabily there will be some demolitions due to the extension (Mainly in the cladding).

I would like to know If in your opinion it is better to model the exisitng building in a different project and link it into the new project or modelling both in same progect and assign different phasing to specific elements?

The Existing+new construction will involve a surface of around 6000m2.

I believe that it will be easier to model it in the same file.  Create the existing building using the existing phase and the extension in the new phase.  You will have trouble demolishing and joining the new building if this is done as a link.

First choice is to model in same file. Separate only if the project requires it.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

+3 - Same model. Maybe a link only if the existing building is not altered at all.
