Extending survey based topo?

Hi guys,

I've got a couple of questions.

1) We've had a survey done of a new home site and the surveyor hasn't quite picked up enough of the area and its resulting in the proposed residence sitting 3/4 on the revit topo and the remaining 1/4 falling off the topo.

I've tried manually editing the surface by approximating the levels but Revit will not allow me to place any points outside the 'surface boundary'.

2) I'm trying to gain more understand of, when importing cad survey dwg's, where this dwg is located within the model. On my first revit project I had the house model done and then at a later date bought in the survey dwg to create the topo. This survey dwg was located a milliom miles away from where I had modelled the house. How is it that I can import this type of dwg and its located right where my house is within the model?

Any help appreciated

Dale

2. Link the DWG in center to center, move it to match you model location, acquire coordinates.
1. I don't have Revit now so can't answer.

  • If you try to add Points to a Toposurface made By Selecting Import Instance (.the .dwg  Isocurves) then , probably you will not be allowed to do it outside the border of the Toposurface...but..
  • if you create the Toposurface not directly from the .dwg file, but instead you'll make it from a Points File (.csv) obtained either directly from the surveyor or extracting it in AutoCAD by using DATAEXTRACTION, then you will be able to add Points manually to the  Toposurface even outside its borders.
