3D views are kind of Navisworks wheelhouse. You can ADD 2d Sheet views and other models to a NWD/NWF, but the NWC is only 3D content.

I export from Revit to NWC files frequently and I have never seen those icons. I do get saved viewpoints in folders from files that I append but I've never seen those before. What saved viewpoints are you seeing them in?

I sent the revit file to a colleague and they dont have any problems either. My guess is now that it is a setting in navisworks that I have on that brings these up? surely the only reason

If I am not mistaken, those box icons you're seeing in your Navisworks export are artifacts that typically indicate unresolved or unsupported annotation symbols or 2D elements (like tags, symbols, or detail components) that were present in your Revit model but don't translate properly into the 3D Navisworks environment. Try the following see if it resolves the issue:

Use a dedicated 3D view made specifically for Navisworks export and Hide unnecessary categories via Visibility/Graphics (VG), specifically:

  • Annotation Categories
  • Analytical models
  • Work planes
  • Levels
  • Reference planes

 In the export settings

  • Set "Convert" to "Current View Only"
  • Disable or uncheck any "Convert linked files" or "Convert element properties" if not needed

And last but not least, check if there are any updates which need to be applied either to your Revit or the Exporter you are using

as @SteveKStafford mentioned, I'm not sure what those icons are? cant say I have ever seen them in NWC i have made.  Typically, when i do an export from Revit, or import the RVT directly into Navis (which makes a NWC when you do that), i have the settings set to Entire Model. That brings in all the modeled elements and typically, no annotation comes in.

as @RDAOU mentioned, set your export settings to a dedicated 3D view that is cleaned up to only what you need, and pick the "Current View" option. i often just pick the Entire Project option.

I believe these icons are representative of a 3D view's camera. These icons are only visible when you have Links turned on inside Navisworks. When exporting to a .NWC, that .NWC houses a 3D View folder with all of the Revit files 3D views as Saved Viewpoints. I've tried turning these off by toggling different settings and I can't find any solution either, which is why I'm here.

I believe your colleague did not have Links active in their own Navisworks.

Those "little icons" are most likely Revit Saved Views being exported into the NWC. To prevent them from appearing:

  1. In Revit, go to File > Export > NWC.

  2. Click Navisworks Settings.

  3. Uncheck Convert Linked CAD Formats (if not needed).

  4. Most importantly, check whether Export Rooms, Areas, and Views options are enabled and disable any view-related exports you don't need.

  5. Re-export the NWC and reload it in Navisworks.

If the views are already in Navisworks:

  • Open the Selection Tree

  • Expand the Revit file

  • Look for the Views folder

  • You can hide or remove them from the NWF, but they will return if they continue to be exported from Revit.

Can you post a screenshot of the icons you're referring to? If they're appearing in the Selection Tree, Scene View, or Saved Viewpoints panel, the solution is slightly different.
