I am trying to export a Revit drawing to SolidWorks, I have tried to export as an IGES and STEP file. But when I Import it in SolidWorks the structures and parts are all over the place and not connected as they are in Revit.
Anyone else have this problem, Running Revit 2017 and Solidworks 2017.
Any help on how to possibly fix this issue?
Hi @Anonymous
Welcome to the Autodesk community! ![]()
As the first step, can you confirm if you have the latest updates for your Revit version installed?
You can also try exporting as other formats (dxf, dwg, IFC to name a few). See HERE for more information.
IFC files include information from models originally created with structural software applications.

As an intermediate check, try loading the neutral format file into Navisworks Simulate/Manage or other viewer. If the content looks good there the problem is most likely on the import side, and would need to be addressed by the Solidworks developers.
Hey,
A slightly late answer, but a useful one. I have had similar issues facing difficulties with file transfer from Revit to Solidworks. Then I cam across the BIMDeX plugins, which allowed me to transfer files from Revit to Solidworks easily without losing any data. You can try as well.
