My client requires layers names used in a drawing sheet to be exported to an Excel sheet where they can add further information such as description of each layer content, etc. Following screenshot illustrates the (hghlighted) information to be exported to Excel sheet.
Well, these are not Revit Layers but Autocad layers for export. If you need those in Excel you need to do that either from within Autocad or using Dynamo. I will have a look at Dynamo for you to see if it can be done.
You can locate that .TXT file that is being used.
For example, the file for export layers ISO 13567 is a .txt file located at : C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2018
You can then import that .txt file in Excel.
Kind regards
That's right these layers are for AutoCAD export. I know this info can be extracted from CAD file but I would prefer if this info can directly be extracted from Revit itself. May be by using some macro. I am awaiting for result of your experiment with Dynamo.
Hi Jeroen
This text file gives generic names of all those layers available in the system since Revit installation. My problem is that I need only names of those layers which contain CAD elements in a specific drawing sheet.
This information is carried inside the RVT file and not able to be exported to an external file. You can transfer the standards from one Revit file to another Revit file, but that is it. No exporting.
Just to be clear, the TXT files that can be IMPORTED are there to support legacy workflows. Revit has not been able to EXPORT a txt file like this for probably close to 8 years now.
