Export NWC from Revit without materials

Hello, I am trying to export a 3d view from Revit into a NWC file without the materials. I have tried the unchecking the "Convert Element Properties" in the Navisworks Options Editor, but the materials are still populated when I append the NWC into the Navisworks NWF. Is there something I am missing? These files have alot of materials and the NWF is running very slow with them. I have also tried exporting to DWF which works, but the 3D file looks bad and would need too much doctoring for it to be an efficient option. Thank you for your help.

Hi TylerRed,

Thank you for this forum post. My name is Jarrett and I will be more than happy to assist you.

I understand you are looking to improve performance by removing materials when using NWC files exported from Revit in Navisworks. Please try the following to remove some textures in attempts to keep quality without sacrificing performance speed:

  1. Close Revit
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials
  3. Rename the "Textures" file to something like "Textures_TEST"
  4. Export from Revit to NWC file
  5. Open the NWC file in Navisworks to see if this yields the desired results

Please let me know if you need further assistance by either replying to the post or in a private message by clicking on my screenname Jarrett Porter and then on Send Private Message.

Also, this appears to be a helpful request to report in the Revit product feedback. We are always looking to improve our products and the following link is set up for you to submit feature requests directly to our Development group:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=1109794
I encourage you to share any ideas as our Development group is always interested to hear your feedback directly since you are better suited to state the business case for a feature request.

Hi Jarrett Porter,

I need your help,

My problem is bit different from the current topic. But some how it's related to it.

My problem is, I cannot see the materials after I export to nwc.

I have attached few images for your review.

Little more about it..,

This family I created by an imported object from Sketchup V8. When it is loaded in to Revit, no problem (Image-1). I can see the materials.

But, after export to nwc, cannot see any materials (Image-2).

Please advise me how to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Radish G
