Export a part of model (section box / scope box) to DWG / IFC / separate Revit

Dear All,

I need to export partes of model into other software (Sketchup). I use IFC that can export only contents of Section Box.

This works fine with main RVT model, but does not trim any linked models (IFC's or RVT). IFC export can only export whole linked models (i.e. as separate files with no section box cut).

This is problematic as I don't want or need whole model - I need to extract only interesting section of it.

Also making groups and then saving as group to RVT doesn't do the trick as at best I can export only all objects that are in temporary group, but that doesn't work well with linked files.

I also don't want to embed linked files into main file because of many reasons- mainly size and different specialities.

Is there a way to export only section box or scope box togehter with that section of other linked models (i.e. MEP) only for that section / scope?

Interesting export formats are: IFC, DAE, DWG, or native RVT - those are easily importable to Sketchup.

Maybe there is a workaround for that?

P.S. This is needed to extract part of the model for further interior work in Sketchup. Sketchup doesn't like big geometries. Detailed MEP model can weigh 2GB after import do SKP. A parto of such model could weigh as low as few MB.

Have you tried Exporting to DWG?
