Hi there,

my partner uses revit vor visualisation and is sending me obj files fuer the production of his ideas.

A problems occured while i want to import that obj into vectorworks.

the geometry is ok, but it is a single pointobject, all his shaped and solid are meldet into 1 point object.

is there any possibility to get an export from revit (2023) where each single object is a single object?

Is this a Vectorworks related question, or a question on how to do this in Revit? This is a Revit forum.

how to export from revit shaped geometry in such a way that,

it is readable in common 3D Software (TopSolid, Solid Works, V ectorworks, Freecad3D)

in the folling way:

Each solid has to be a single seperated solid.

I got an export from revit 2023 here as an obj file, where alle solids are meldet into 1 pointvolume (kind of solid in vectorworks)

when i import it with topsolid the objects are seperated but i cant do anything with them.

seems there is some issue with revit, when 2 diff software products cant work well with the data from revit.

we need to get this onto cnc machines, so we need a real 3D programm with interfaces to cnc.

maybe obj is not the best export from revit we usually get .stp, or .x_t (parasolid text).

AS IS KNOW parasolid is readable in autocad, io dont know why revit cant export parasolid, or maybe my opartner does not know how to export it in parasolid.

parasolid is the smallest best way to exchange 3d WITH attached data.

I don't know what file types VW supports, but you can ask it to try other export formats:

AND .fbx

x_t parasolid text (this file is importable fuer autocad too)

or step

most important stuff is, that the parts are separated, each block has to be an single entity.

If its only possible in obj, it is no problem, AS LONG the objects are not meldet in a big entity.

i only ask about different file types, because the different interfaces for the different file type have different configuration possibilities.
