ESC key not working

I am used to hitting escape to exit commands in Revit; however, the escape key no longer functions. It just makes the windows error beep sound. I made a keyboard shortcut for "modify" as an alternative, but this is not working. My workaround is having to right click and pick 'cancel' and I have to do this twice to get out of the wall command for example. I have a desktop subscription to Revit LT and I am so frustrated I can't get anything done efficiently. Help!

Need more information. But the beep comes from windows, so i would think its a hardware problem. Repair the revit installation to check. 

I am assuming you have tried

• A different keyboard
• The esc key works in other programs, just not revit
• You are using the minimum systrm requirements.
• Check there are no errors from the keyboard ( check control panel)
