Error - Side-by-side configuration is incorrect..... for Revit

I am hoping someone can help me resolve this error. It has occurred directly after installing Revit 2017 on Windows 8.1.

I have read the AutoCAD posts related to the same error but do not know where to find the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable within my Revit program files(as if it's the same solution as AutoCAD). I have seen one other post within the Revit forums on this issue that went unanswered. Apologies if there is a resolution out there already.

Error Message:

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2017\Revit.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more information"

AutoCAD similar issue

Does anyone know how to correct this for Revit 2017?

I see this as a fix, but it doesn't work at all. I am in the middle of a big job with these errors. Is there no other fix around? I can't even unistall Revit! Every Autodesk product is broke

Make sure you are also up to date on windows updates, after the updates install reboot....see if you still get the error...if so now try the instructions in the previous links.

I got it working.

I went back to the setup file and reinstalled all the "Tools & Utilities" and this seemed to do the job.

Prior to this, the online account stated that Revit was up-to-date. It was purely a hunch or compulsion to keep clicking buttons as the instructions for AutoCADs and 3Dstudio's similar issues, I found, did not translate to Revit. The folder structure and file names one would use simply weren't there for Revit.

I had another issue afterwards with the Content Libraries not installing and manually reinstalled it from the Windows Control Panel. FYI

Apologies for this being more anecdotal than helpful to anyone else.
