Error opening Revit file - Response status code does not indicate success 403

I am getting this error warning whenever I open up an instance of any version of Revit: "Response status code does not indicate success 403 (Server failed to authenticate the request. Make sure the value of Authorization header is formed correctly including the signature)."

I click OK and everything seems to be ok and Revit runs as normal as far as I can tell. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Have you tried Googling it? I get a boat-load of hits when I do.

Yes. Nothing I have found seems relevant to Revit. Have you found something in those hits that looks relevant to this issue?

I found out that it isn't relevant to Revit.

Hi @paul.eterovichY6MNN

Thanks a lot for posting your question to the forums!   This issue may be related to opening a cloud model.

I have found the following workaround if using Revit 2025. More info here.

This incident has been resolved in:

Revit 2025.1

To install updates, open the Autodesk desktop app and click My Updates. To install a new version of your Autodesk software, open the Autodesk desktop app, sign in, and click My Products. To use a web browser to install updates or a new version, sign in to Autodesk Account. (Your access to new versions or updates depends on your Autodesk software entitlements.)

We look forward to hearing back from you with more information so we can help you as a community!

Thanks for your help. I am running Revit 2025.2 and that is the only version that does not give me this error.

For more context: The error message appears when initially opening up Revit, not when opening files.

Just to be clear, is the only known solution to this issue to update to Revit 2025.1+?

My users are working with consultants/clients that require them to use Revit 2023/2024 so unfortunately they're unable to use the newer version.

I get a similar message when using ACC SDK, but with the message "Response status code does not indicate success: 400 (Bad Request)" Downloading a 2022 .rvt

Recently saw this error occurring due to an add-on loaded into Revit.

If seeing this message, try disabling add-ons
