Hi,
I have two projects and I need to transfer the View templates from Project A to Project B, however every time I try I get the following error message: "The project standards cannot be transferred" see snippet
This only happens when I try to transfer the View template, anything else, filled regions, text etc, transfers without a problem.
I also tried to open up a new project and transfer the project standards into a blank project and I still get this error.
I am using Revit 2018 MEP
Thank you kindly!
you can refer to these LINK and LINK and see if helps. thanks
@ennujozlagam both links are the same.
Revit will not even run the command, so the journal will not have that detail.
I have looked through the journal but without knowing what I am looking for it is hard to know where the error is.
okay sorry about that? try to check your file that you are going to transfer which may have a Level or View Range setting checked and view template assign change to none and see if helps. thanks
Not sure I am following you....Check in the view template if there is a level checked? In the View range?
Cheers!
open you file and/0r select items to copy uncheck or check only those you need?
@ennujozlagam I have checked only the ones I need, and even tried different combinations of things checked unchecked and unless I have all checked it will not allow me to transfer project standards. It's like a bug or something

Do you see "Illegal duplicate mapping detected" in the Journal File?
@barthbradley No, I tried a blank project and the project that I am in and it will not. I tried transferring from other projects into my project and it worked, so it is something in the project that I am transferring from. I can uncheck the first 21 boxes before I start getting the error message, but I haven't been able to pinpoint what works and what doesn't yet.
Got me stumped. Happy to help you troubleshoot if you want to share the Project with the VTs?
I have found in the journal where the project transfer command occurs, but there is no error id number attached there, just tells me that Revit did not execute it. Unless this is it:
1:< DBG_INFO: Bad argument: preTouch was called with wrong pElemPtr [19666403]:
That's probably it. Delete whatever is associated with that ID and see if that corrects the issue. Stand away from the computer just in case though . ![]()
It was a level, so I deleted the level and the issue is still there
I will just continue manually copying over and setting up filters.
@barthbradley Sometimes doing it yourself, instead of relying on Revit, is the faster solution
what a bummer!
view template may sometimes include shared parameter that don't exist in newer project which may cause issue with the transfer. So you may want to include project parameters along with view template. i was wonder if you can upload the sample file for us to troubleshoot.
@syman2000 I have tried that, I still get the error. So far I have been able to untick the first 21 boxes from the top and all boxes before View Template from the bottom without getting the error. So the error must be within that range of elements.
Upload the sample file so we can dig in the issue.
