Hello,
I have a ceiling that sticks out past my roof due to its thickness. I am trying to use a void form to cut the ceiling, but I keep running into an error (see attached photo). The void is cutting the ceiling correctly (see attached photo) but when I click "finish model" I get the previously mentioned error. How should I go about this? Let me know if you need more information.

Post the file.
....have you considered changing the Rafter Cut and Fascia Depth? That might get you to where you want to go.
....ah! CEILING! Not Roof. Why don't you just modify the extents of the ceiling sketch boundary so it doesn't protrude? Pretty much model it the way it will be built.
I will give that a try. What is the best way to send the file to you?
I copy and pasted the ceiling and roof into a brand new file, performed the same actions, and I did not run into an error. This obviously means there is something wrong with the file itself?

See attached @barthbradley . Thanks for all your help.
This is about an In-Place Void not cutting; right? If so, please change the Void to a Solid and Finish/Close out of In-Place Modeling. Then post that file with the In-Place Solid so I can see what the geometry looks like.
Edit the ceiling boundary lines and align them with the interior face of the walls.
And change the ceiling assembly to 4" thick then you won't need any void to cut it.
Finally, if you want the model really clean. Attach the wall top to the roof and join geometry the ceiling to wall +and ceiling to roof.
Looks to me like the ceiling is supposed to represent the bottom chord of the roof truss. I would simply change its depth to match the Roof depth and join the ceiling and roof together. I'd also eliminate the interior "finish" layer from the roof assembly. It doesn't make sense.
Hello,
Thanks for your advice. That is a good workaround. This has led me to realize that I am not just having an issue using a void to cut my ceiling, but I am actually having a problem cutting any object with a void. I'll create a separate topic for it.
