Error: Can't make type (formula giving an error when loading my family into the project)

Hi everyone!

I've been trying to do a nested family wall structure and everything is working. However, once I add a formula to "number of studs" it stops letting me load it into my project. Unless I change the "Wall Section 02" part of the formula to numbers. Can someone tell me why is this happening? I've attached the nested document. Thanks!!!

This is the error.

Fix the 0 issue for 9' - 0 3/4" type.

Have you considered using Curtain Walls with Mullions for the Dimensional Lumber and Empty System Panels for the empty spaces in-between for Framing? Or even a Framing Software Add-in such as AGACAD?

I would encourage you to set aside this family and spend the efforts on learning Curtain Walls - or invest in AGACAD or StrucSoft if framing is your game.

Ohhh I see... thanks! Ok, I erased that type of wall just to make it simple and it is still marking the error.

Thanks! I will look into Curtain Walls since we don't have the budget to pay for those add-ins. I hope I can create a schedule from that to get all the wood counted.

Hi again! Curtain Walls are saving my life! Thanks for the tip. Is there a way I can add an extra layer to those walls? For example for the sheathing that goes outside the studs? It's ok if not but that would be awesome.

HA! Glad I saved a life today.  Feels good.

Regarding your question, what about modeling the exterior wall layers as Basic Wall Types? Nothing stopping you from "sandwiching" assemblies together.

How did you put in those doors? I'm trying to add doors to mine and they won't come up.

Replace panels with a curtain wall door type, or change the panels to basic wall type and place normal doors in them.

What I did was replace the CW Panel with a Basic Wall Type, host a Door to the Basic Wall and then adjust the CW Grids bounding the Basic Wall/Curtain Panel to the exact size of the Door Opening.
