Equipment location on plan not the same in Elevation

I have inserted a family from a manufacture and located on my plan. When I opened the elevation, the equipment was not where I had placed in on the plan. See attached screenshot.

I did a work around for the time being by loading the family again and hiding the other on the elevation to get the lineup correct.

Does anyone have any idea why this may happen? Or is there a way to have the second unit that I inserted not show up on my equipment schedule?

Check in the family that the elevation and plan views align there.

my guess is they do not.

It sounds as if visibility of the geometry has been overridden in plan, with a Symbolic Line representation visible, and the Symbolic Lines are not in the correct position. Open the Family and check visibility/graphics overrides in Elevation. See if the solid geometry has been hidden in plan or not. In my example below, the Door geometry is visible in elevations but not in plan. if this is the case, check the Plan/RCP box, and check the plan. My guess is that there are symbolic lines visible in plan which are not aligned with the geometry. Good luck!

Yeah. What she said above.

There are obviously SOME symbolic lines in plan view, as evidenced by the doors showing as opened. I'm guessing somebody hid the actual geometry in plan view and drew the whole thing with symbolic lines in plan view. And the got the alignment off.

Take a quick measurement of how far off the alignment is, edit the family, look in the plan view, and move the symbolic stuff over the necessary amount. OR move the actual geometry over in the opposite direction. Depends which is correctly on the insertion point.

Or, you could delete the symbolic crap and turn the visibility of the geometry back on for plan views. But maybe you want to leave the door swing bit, and just move it into the right alignment. You could handle it in different ways.

Save the family, and then load it back into the project.

What I found (and what some of the other families I have recently used) was that the family was offset from the vertical reference plan in elevation. Once I realigned the family with the vertical reference point the family inserted fine in both plan and elevation.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Much appreciated.
