Energy cost estimated using Revit energy analysis

Hello everyone,

Hope you're doing well!

Could you please explain to me how is possible to change for instance a cost per unit of fuel while running Revit energy analysis? Is it possible at all? If not where I can do it? GBS ?

That would be great also if you could tell me where Revit get this cost information for different locations or countries?

Thanks in advance!

@akS3ADK. Hi

Not a popular topic on this forum....Autodesk should start a forum for GBS and Energy Analysis...

Anyhow; :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht: Rates depends on the project location....not sure 100% is this is what you are looking for but you can amend both in GBS on the "Location and Rates" page???either use the defaults specify additional information on both location as well as utility cost information.

  1. Enter the project’s Country or State, and City - those items are required (while any additional information is optional and can add if/as necessary.
  2. Click the Get Utility Cost button to retrieve the Green Building Studio electric and fuel cost defaults.
  3. if your project is located somewher GBS database could not retriev such rates you may modify them as necessary

The rates defined therein by default are based on the average prices/ rate for fuel and elect over the previous year/state or per Country (for locations other than the US) as published by the official department of the location country (example US Department of Energy.).... For the US they seem to be fairly accurate but for other places in the world mehhhhhh useless.

Thanks for the reply! Is it possible to have these changes also in Revit itself?

@akS3ADK hi again

I don't believe you can...it basically tries to fetch the data related to the Location you have set for your project in Revit.

The energy analysis setting from within Revit are more or less limited to the common details/info related to the model/building itself.

If one wants to amend those defaults, one needs to go through GBS...ie: Once the energy model is created and one runs the analisys

  1. From Revit's Ribbon one has to go to Analyze tab>>Energy Analysis >> Results & Compare
  2. On the R&C dialoge menu >> (Right Top Left) click Open to open project in GBS
  3. Under the Utility Information Tab ,,,, one can find and amend the Project Default Utility Rates ....you can or should be able to (under the Utility Billing Data Sets) download the spreadsheets modify and re- upload them for existing projects.

PS: Probably you know the above already ... I just thought of reiterating/mentioning since it may help someone else looking for help and no one around to answer the unpopular questions on GBS lol

...not sure if Revit MEP Forum is more helpful with GBS, Solar Analysis and that stuff than here on the architectural
