Embedding LEED criteria into BIM Model using shared Parameters

Am new to Revit and am trying to design a BIM model to meet the green building rating criteria, using shared parameter. I am not sure how this works but I learnt that shared parameter could be used to embed all the green building rating like LEED criteria, in a BIM model. Can any one give detailed information on how this works?

Most of the LEED information I have seen in Revit Families is coming from a URL Parameters.  You could certainly make them Shared Parameters.

Sure.  If you just need the information and schedule, add them as parameters directly in project (no need to be shared parameters), pick the appropriate type (text, multi-line text, URL, etc...), use Green Building Information group, and assign them to applicable categories.

If you need to tag them with the LEED information, then add shared parameters to families and tags.
