Hello
I have used the Section tool to make elevations for angled walls many times. I'm struggling to get a flush view with a multi- angled curtain wall. In R2016, is there an easy way to get a flat on "Flush" view of obscure angled walls? It angles and tilts. I'm getting warnings about lines not being parallel. So the dimensioning tool doesn't work, even to points and corner points.
Thanks
Nardo
Revit does not support flattening section or elevation views (if I understand you correctly). You create multiple elevations and place them next to each others on sheet.
I would dimension all XY dimensions on plan views and Z dimensions on elevation views so that I wouldn't need to flatten elevation views. IMHO flattening views are terribly misleading especially when you have both angles and tilts, they end up with gaps in between each segments. It is only useful for fabrication parts like in Rhino or SketchUp but not for views.
Actually, these drawings are for Shop Drawings, that will probably become Assembly Drawings.
These are for Prefabrication. So flush views are required so that all of the dimensions are there in one flat view, and are accurate.
I do appreciate getting ideas that are different though.
I'm still hoping for advise on setting these views up truly perpendicular with the view. I with the align tool could click on the Section mark.
Thank You
Nardo
You can create a reference plane or a grid line parallel with the angled curtain wall and draw the section snapping on it. Or, simply create elevation view pointing to the curtain wall and it will orient itself correctly.
