Hello all,
Issue here. Prepare yourselves for some drama.....
Two elevation views.
Only difference is the scale.
One elevation is of the full building,
The other is an enlarged detail of a part of the same building.
Both are of Type - Building Elevation
Both have the same view template.
Same project
Same files linked in - a .dwg, an MEP
Both linked files are in the correct workset
When I go to the view template to hide the .dwg, exterior lights on the detail view disappear. These lights are a part of the MEP file.
The overall elevation looks fine however!!
This has been driving me absolutely nuts. What could the difference be between the overall elevation and the enlarged elevation that could be causing this? A part of me is strongly tempted to recommend linework on the offending detail, but that would not be right - and I would not be able to sleep at night!
Oh Revit, Revit, wherefore art thou, Revit.....

It would help to go step by step from the correct view towards the other to see where things break.
I would duplicate the correct one, crop it, change the scale and see where the lights disappear.

So, if I understands correctly, you're going to: "View Template">"V/G Imports" and then unchecking the checkbox next to your ".dwg" file name, and leaving the checkbox next to "Show imported categories in this view" checked. Is that right? If so, a filter might be the culprit.
...Do you get the same results if you select the dwg and do a "Temporary Hide"?
You got it!
This is the .dwg that needs to be hidden
And this is the MEP linked file
I always find this list most valuable when trying to troubleshoot an issue of this kind. If it doesn't help you, perhaps you'll discover a 34th reason. If so, add it to the list.

Barth - we need another list for my situation - List of Objects That Disappear.....
OMG!!!!!
When I go to crop the view the lights DISAPPEAR!!!! It's the CROPPING!!!! ![]()
Calm down, though. Now that I know this, I still don't know how to fix this.....
So there is a "break point" where the MEP model disappears.
What is getting hidden at that point? Is there a way to trick it? Does it relate with how the lighting fixtures are made or hosted? does this affect all elements of the MEP model?
@Anonymous
When I crop the view, the MEP model disappears. When I hit the lightbulb it reappears but is NOT pink.
I've seen this happen. Go to family and I'll bet there is a model line extending away from origin of the geometry.
Which family? Selecting the crop region does not take me to a family....
@Anonymous
No such luck.....sighhhh....

Maybe I'm misreading...Isn't the issue about lights disappearing when you crop a view? That's what you said here with a smileyvery-happy emogy.
When the view is cropped and I turn the linked .dwg off, then the lights on the linked MEP disappear
When the view is uncropped and I turn off the linked .dwg, then everything works beautifully. However when the view is cropped then the lights from the linked MEP disappear.
Definitely a WTF moment.
When I turn on the .dwg and crop the view the MEP stays visible.
When I turn off the .dwg and crop the view the MEP disappears. Interesting.
(wait, didn't we just come around full circle here??)
Point finally understood - I could get into the light family and have. Unfortunately, fixing and reloading it is out of my purview as that area belongs to the MEP guys.
(stop laughing for a bit, get serious and constructive - LOL!!!!)
