Elevation Tag Missing after Corrupt Family Fix

We’ve been getting Corrupt Family error messages in a Revit project file. The affected families are Annotations, Detail Components, and Model Components. We can’t either edit them in the family editor nor use them – like creating a new instance in the project.

Autodesk’s best solution was to use copies of those Revit Family files that are working of course (can be modified in the family editor) and reload them back to the project. That solved the problem.

But now our issue is that all our Interior Elevation Tags got messed up. In Plan View they’re showing as plain squares. It’s as if the Tags (triangle pointers) and the Reference Sheet were deleted. But when we checked the Elevation View it’s still there. I then right-clicked inside the activated Elevation View and clicked "Find Referring Views" and went back to my Plan View and Revit shows that the elevation still exist. But Tags are missing. I tried changing-it-to-a-different-family trick in the Properties and back with no success.

I have attached a Powerpoint that shows screenshots of a Plan View with the missing Elevation Tag.

Anyone who had the same dilemma? Any solution? Please?

Regards,

Felix

1) Have you tried using those elevation tags in a vanilla template? Just to see if they work right?

2) Have you checked your View Template? Try removing the View Template and seeing what it looks like.

3) Have you checked filters? Try removing the filters one at a time. Sometimes filters run wild and do funny things to stuff that they should not have anything to do with,

Hi Rina, thanks for the suggestions. I tried using it in a new file and yes it's working well - Elevation tag and reference sheet shows up. Went back to my project file and checked the View Template and Filters but that didn’t solve it.

Can you share a file - even a stripped down file that shows the behavior? SInce the tags work well in a vanilla template, then there is something going on in your project that they are not happy with. Also - try to edit the tag families, make sure that visibility is right.

Hello Felix amd Rina,

We just got a similar problem after corruption (due to network failure), did anyone find a resolution?

Look for the tag in your Project Browser. Right click on the family name and see if you can edit the family. If you get an error message saying that you can't edit the family, then try to reloads clean family.

Another solution- try to locate a local file from before the network failure. Copy the local, open as detached with Audit, make sure that it is correct, and replace the central model.
