Hello i am creating some elevation views from a 3D model problem is they look more like section views(see below). I know you can adjust height and depth of the elevation but i just want to detail internal items. I have been getting round this in other views by adjusting the cropping box but this seems abit clunky, what am i doing wrong?
Hi @Anonymous,
You have to know that elevations are just like sections.
As a proof, view templates can apply to both.
The big difference lies i nthe way to place them.
Elevations will automatically orientate itself perpendicularily to walls, and its symbol on a sheet will be different.
For sure the cutting line of your elevation goes through your building and the bathroom...

On a floor plan, select your elevation symbol, a line will appear which shows
- where you are creating your elevation view
- how far you are looking (if far clipping is off)
So if your view line is placed through your plan: it still cuts your project. I guess that is happening to you right now.
So select the line on your plan view, drag it away from your building. and all should be good.
Cheers.
Here is a picture to make it clear:
In your case, just make sure that the section line lies well before your building!

Yes i know elevations and sections are similar but i always think of sections as a cutting view and elevations as non cutting. Because i have an odd shape room i dont want to see the loft space above the ceiling i cant get rid of it using the crop tool as this only deals in squares or rectangles...
