I have floor plans I received from an architect in dwg format. I created my levels, linked in the 1st floor, and created my grids. I tried to link in 2nd floor and I get this error message and I have no idea what it means. This is my first time trying to work in Revit with linked in Cad floor plans.

Does it have something to do with that 2nd & 3rd floor are almost identical and they used the same floor plan in cad for both 2nd & 3rd and just used different room tags for the same rooms and just separated them with different layers? (i.e. Room tags for both Room 202 and 302 have the tags right on top of each other but Room 202 is with layer "2-room names" and Room 302 is with layer "3-room names") and they just hid different layers on different pages in cad to create the look of two different floor plans? The weird thing is when I open the pages in cad none of the room name layers are hidden or frozen, so im not sure how they were able to hide them for certain floors.

When I just linked it in and hit close in the error message it links the cad file into revit, but on the 2nd floor the room tags for 3rd floor and other "overlapped" things in the cad file show up in Revit all as on the same floor (2nd floor). Is there a way to segregate the different things into the different floors that they were intended to be displayed on?
1. Link the Cad into the project--do not use Import.
When Linking the Cad, make sure you check box for "current view only".
If you don't check that, the Cad will get Linked into EVERY View in your project!
Hi @ben
From your description, it looks like a general clean up of the CAD file should be done prior to import.
Please see similar discussion on cleaning CAD drawings before linking HERE and HERE (a simple step by step process to clean and link CAD dwg)
I encourage you to see Best practices to follow when linking DWG files into Revit
Try making a new layer and copy the elemenst to a new floor plan, also check your Z axis for any miscellaneous elements.
Let me know if thishelps resolve your issue.

When I imported it I got the error message but it still put the dwg in revit and I didn't notice anything wrong with it so I didn't do anything with it. I was just wondering what the error meant and if it was going to cause something to go wrong.
I did use the link cad function, not the import function. Instead of "current view" I used the "Place at" drop down menu and selected the floor. It looked like you can only use one or the other, either "current view" or "place at"
