Element/ref plane constraints limitation

Hello,

My question sounds bit silly, but any way.

I want to manage size and gap from the earth of scaffolds cell family. To do that I've created ref planes and pin elements to those planes, but somehow one of the ledgers doesn't pin to the ref plane and ask me to remove constraints ("gap" parameter).

I noticed that I can create new instance and pin this parameter before allignment in the plan view. If I do that revit ask my to remove constraints in plan view ("Length" and "Width" parameters). So somehow I can pin this element only to one plane, but what if i want to move element in several directions?

I also found different behavior while locking element with ref plane on different elevation views. For instance, alligned element and RP driving by "gap" parameter on FRONT view work good, but those allignment is not working when it locked on RIGHT view. How is it working?

First I would edit the family. Then set the reference plane from not a reference to strong reference.

Then align the strong reference plane of the family to the reference plane

Once you do that, it should be able to move the horizontal frame without issue.

Thank you, @syman2000

Looks like it works!

But way? ADSK claerly describes that that strong reference has a preference when snap to the elements in the project, nothig about tricks when creating a family.
