Electrical wire in lighting family

This would be an architectural application but I am having some difficulty trying to draw an electrical wire for a lighting family.  I thought I could just use a sweep to create a cord, but it seems that the sweep command does not allow me to draw a 3d path, even though the video tool tip shows, what looks to me, to be a 3d path.  Any tips and/ or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Regards Peter.

Thanks.  Don't get me started on the 2d sweep thing again.  😉  A 2d sweep will not work for this because the point where the cord terminates is on a different plane, and axis, than where it joins the fixture.  I will give this a  try even though it may be overkill.  It'll be nice to learn how it is done.

TBH I did mention to the client to just keep the card on a single plane just as a graphic representation and that is probably what will be done.  I have developed a nested family with parameters controlling the points on the spline but it seemed to not be able to create the void object without unconstraining.  Thanks again.
