I downloaded the Vray pluggin for rendering in revit. Whenever I edit the vray materials in the library that comes with it, it gives me an error that doesn't let me save the changes to that material.
I am having the same problem on RVT 2020 and I am on a trial version... Is this a limitation of the trial? Thanks!
possibly but this is something you should be asking on the v-ray forum: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/
I found a workaround, save as in a different location and it allows me to save the modifications. Cheers!

Do you mind to explain a little bit more how did you do it? I am having the same problem.
What are you saving in another location? Tha Revit file? or the Vray installation?
What version do you have?
The asset editor is working? Can uyou change and edit your materials?
Please let me know.Thanks.
My asset editor is working, and after I assign the vray material just click file/save as... save somewhere the material you were trying to edit... i am changing the name to something more intuitive rather than some numbers and after I edit it just save the modifications without any problems for the newly created material. I hope it helps!
Are you using this Vray as a trial mode? or do you already bought it?
My asset editor is not working at all. that's why I can't edit those materials.
Which version are you using?
yes, my asset browser is not working at all. What a shame because I know for sure that if I reinstall it it will not work. Trial ends. And as I have trying it for some renderings I believe the Revit mental ray or whatever the name is ok for me. I will not spend that money in something that is not even reading half of the materials applied to the view. Can you upload and show me some renderings with Vray?
I just started the trial... I do not have anything to show. I am trying it out as now I am working on some expanded metals sheet materials I am not happy with the results from the cutout of revit materials. I had problems getting the licence... I lost 2 days until I found a workaround, I just connected the laptop to internet through my phone and bam... It worked like a charm... Other troubles I encountered are assigning materials in linked models within revit... I have to investigate further, but as those are pretty big files blinding the links is not an option as revit gives me countless errors doing so... .IES files for the lightnings give me an other headache for now until I figure those out too... but I believe that with some practice you can get similar results to those in the chaos group videos. I am planing on getting the licence as where I am now most of the companies require Vray... good luck!
this is the first result... I did not managed to use fur for grass as my 16gb of ram are no enough for that... photoshop it is for that
I have been doing some test as well, but so far the only thing that I am finding "better" than the actual raytrace is that fur and grass setting.
I think that chaos group needs to improve a lot in interaction between revit and vray.
The end result is good, but it is the same with raytrace.
So why bother??
But hey , nice render. It is a shame not be able to render the grass (that it is as I said before the only advantage of vray)
Keep showing the results.
